$600 for this antique Holton Herald Trumpet. I have decades of experience in shipping & receiving, so this Herald Trumpet will be securely foam packaged inside its case for shipping. These old hard shell cases are great for storing, but hell for shipping, unless Horn is "mummy packed"! is stamped on receiver (Low Pitch), so Trumpet is tuned to modern tuning frequency (A=440hz). Elkhorn, Wis.", so about the time Holton moved from Chicago to Elkhorn (altho Holton made instruments at both locations for a short time). The sound distance is the opposite of Pocket Trumpets (10 inches from face)!Įngraving on bell reads "made by Frank Holton Co. This Trumpet stretches to 50½ inches, from receiver to end of bell 53½ inches with inserted mouthpiece (not included). They were never plated, and should not be plated aftermarket!

Research showed that the pistons of Holton Trumpets, at that time, were made of bronze! So the pistons are not worn, but the color of bronze. No leaks from tuning tubes or valve casings.

I don't know why solder was applied there. Nice used condition - excellent mouthpiece for a student of trumpet. Some solder signs where 1st tuning tube joins 1st valve casing, but nothing severe. I have put a blue medicine dropper bulb on end of mouthpiece receiver to prevent any more dings! I received it with this dinged bell, when it was shipped to me. One ding on bell, from poor storage/shipping, when mouthpiece receiver banged up against it. In excellent condition for over 100 years of age!
